"A Postcard from Dar" is a thank you note to the wonderful Mimi and her daughter Colleen, who warmly welcomed me into their home and guided me around Dar es Salaam. Their hospitality allowed me to experience Mbudya Island and gave me a taste of what the sun feels like on the other side of the border. In Swahili, we say, "Kupoteza njia ndio kujua njia," which means to get lost is to know the way. I visited Mbudya at a time when I felt lost, and by the time I left Tanzania, I had found a renewed sense of direction.
